Key stage 3 is an exciting time in your child's learning and our aim is for students to study a rigorous curriculum focused on the key knowledge and skills that will both prepare our students for the challenges of GCSEs and A Levels and give them the foundation to go on to live rich and fulfilling lives. Our broad and balanced curriculum promotes the academic, personal, social and physical development of all pupils and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
What do students learn?
Knowledge and skills are mapped out for each subject in progression maps. These progression maps outline the minimum knowledge and skills that students are expected to secure at each stage of their learning, as well as the knowledge and skills that will stretch and challenge them:

How are students examined?
As well as formative assessment in class, and unit assessment, students sit formal written exams in the EBacc subjects:
English, mathematics, science, languages, history, geography and computing (Year 9 only).
Interim exams take place in the Autumn Term and Exams in the Summer Term. These exams are designed to assess that students are making progress in line with the curriculum, and to prepare students for public examinations in Key Stage 4 by helping students develop revision skills and incrementally recall and review essential knowledge and skills.
Each year group is provided with a revision guide to direct them to the knowledge and skills they should be revising:
